Bucket List Ghost Hunt - Waverly Hills
Before getting started, we have to get some legal stuff out of the way...

Must Mention...
At the top of my ghost hunting bucket list is Waverly Hills Sanitorium, in Louisville, Kentucky. Josh and I plan on attending an overnight investigation next year and I CAN’T WAIT! A link will be provided at the bottom for more ghost tour information.
The gothic architecture is incredible, the history sad and tragic, and the spirits that still reside there are intriguing.
When originally purchased in 1883, the land was owned by Major Thomas H. Hayes. Major Hayes needed a school for his daughters, so started a one-room school, “Waverly School”, which led him to name the property “Waverly Hill”.
The Board of Tuberculosis Hospital purchased the land and kept the name “Waverly Hill”. In 1908, construction began for Waverly Hills Sanitorium. On July 26, 1926, the Sanitorium opened.
Due to tuberculosis being such a contagious disease, the residents of Waverly Hills were not allowed to live among general society. Because of this, Waverly Hills became its own community, complete with the post office and zip code. They grew their own vegetables, fruits, and raised their own meat.
Before 1944, when an antibiotic was discovered that cured TB, so many people died. They weren’t allowed to leave their alive and some haven’t left in death.
Over the years, since the closure of the Sanitorium, people had abused the hospital by vandalism, damaged, and almost condemned. Luckily, Charles and Tina Mattingly purchased the hospital in 2001. Charles and Tina are paranormal enthusiasts who are working to restore this wondrous building.
Waverly Hills has been on every ghost hunting show I have seen. You can hear voices, feel cold spots, hear movement, and more.
Waverly Hills is open seasonally for tours, ghost hunts; short and overnight, and Christmas Laser light show.
